Pep Guardiola extends Barcelona contract but doubts remain

Pep Guardiola will remain as Barcelona manager until at least the end of next season; however his long-term future at the Nou Camp remains in question.
Guardiola's existing deal was due to run out this summer but he is now committed until the end of the 2010-11 season.
The 39-year-old's new contract will not be signed until this summer, when Barça will be holding presidential elections, but current president Joan Laporta is delighted to have tied down the highly-rated coach.
"We had a meeting last night and Pep Guardiola told me he was committed to staying for at least one more season," Laporta said. "I think that is very good news for everyone associated with Barcelona because we all wanted Pep to continue," he added. "He doesn't like me saying it, but Pep Guardiola is the best coach in the world and we are proud to continue to have him here." Speculation will remain rife that the former Spanish playmaker could go elsewhere when his current contract runs out in June if the incoming president is not to his satisfaction. "I hope that my word will be sufficient," Guardiola, who turned 39 on Monday, said. "Everyone knows that three or four months is an eternity."
Reports last week had suggested that Manchester United might be interested in hiring the Spaniard after the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. The Barcelona manager led his club to an unprecedented six trophies in 2009, including the Spanish league, the Champions League and the Club World Cup. They are undefeated in La “Liga” this term and lead the standings by five points from arch rivals Real Madrid with just under half the season played.

Mike Riddle takes first in freeski superpipe final in Winter Dew Tour, Simon Dumont takes sixth
During the freeski superpipe final at the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge this past weekend, the competition really didn't get going until the athlete's second runs. The majority of them fell during their fist outings.
With a giant double flip and signature alley-oop bow and arrow, Canadian Mike Riddle took the top spot with 93.00 points. Star of Riley Poor's "Transitions", Simon Dumont, took home sixth place with a score of 81.00.
“It feels amazing to win. I couldn’t be happier,” said Riddle. “I put down the run I wanted to, and I’m just happy I came out on top.”
Next stop for the Dew Tour is Snowbasin Resort in Ogden Utah for Wendy's Invitational, January 14-17, followed by the Toyota Championship at Mount Snow Resort in West Dover, Vermont February 4-7.

CINEMA

Hello, We are Eli and Gemma and I’m going to talk about cinema.
Now a days on the billboard is very interesting movies such as: avatar, fame, everybody is fine, the best, it’s not so easy, Solomon Kane, my ex girlfriends ghosts…
avatar:
Avatar is a movie about a marine in a wheelchair who is recruited to travel to Pandora where large corporations extract ore to alleviate the energy crisis on earth. it was made by James Cameron.
I like this movie because of the strange blue animals, called “avatares”. They live in Pandora and a group of Scientifics had to investigate their costumes and their culture. And they transform their bodies to the other blue animals throw a machine.
If you like sci-fi films fantasy ones I think you should see it.

Shay

My name is Shay and I am from Australia. I wanted to be a doctor, but finally I studied Psychology at university. In Australia sport is very popular so I played netball for about 15 years. At high school I studied Japanese for 5 years and after university I went to live in Japan for 4 years. Japan is my favourite country and I love Japanese culture. I lived in Nagoya and Hiroshima, but when I speak Japanese I have a Hiroshima-ben accent because I lived with a Japanese family in Hiroshima. In my free time I love to travel, my dream is to spend Christmas in New York and also to visit St. Petersberg in Russia and Reykjavik in Iceland. I also like to read books, I have my own personal library with over 200 books. At the moment I am interested in Scrapbooking. I decorate my travel albums and make books of my own. I have been living in Barcelona now for 7 years. My favourite Catalan food is “Pa amb Tomaquet” and my favourite holiday is St. Jordi, April 23.
